Web and tech proposal

Web development proposal template

A complete proposal you can send after filling in the brackets. Copy the text or download the PDF, then make it yours.

Make it yours before sending

  1. Replace every [bracket] with the client's real details. Search for "[" to catch them all.
  2. Set real prices in the investment tiers, and cut to one option if tiers do not fit the job.
  3. Rewrite "Understanding your goals" in the client's own words from your call. It is the section they read closest.
  4. Delete anything that does not apply. A shorter, true proposal beats a longer, generic one.

1. Overview

Prepared for [Client Company] by [Your Name], [Date].

Thank you for considering me to build [Client Company]'s [website / web app]. This proposal sets out what I will build, how the work is broken into milestones, and the investment, so you have a clear, low-risk path from where you are to launch.

2. Understanding your goals

[Client Company] needs [describe: a fast marketing site on a CMS your team can edit / a custom feature / an ecommerce store] that is reliable and easy to maintain.

The build must support [key requirements: integrations, performance, accessibility] and hand your team a site they can run without a developer on call.

3. Proposed approach

  1. Phase 1, Setup. I confirm requirements, choose the stack, and set up the repository, environments, and a staging URL you can watch progress on.
  2. Phase 2, Build in milestones. Work ships in reviewable milestones ([e.g. templates, then dynamic pages, then integrations]), each demoed on staging for your sign-off.
  3. Phase 3, Quality and launch. I test across browsers and devices, wire up analytics and forms, and handle the launch and DNS with you.
  4. Phase 4, Handover. I document how to edit and deploy the site and include a bug-fix window after launch.

4. Scope and deliverables
