Creative proposal
Video editing proposal template
A complete proposal you can send after filling in the brackets. Copy the text or download the PDF, then make it yours.
Make it yours before sending
- Replace every [bracket] with the client's real details. Search for "[" to catch them all.
- Set real prices in the investment tiers, and cut to one option if tiers do not fit the job.
- Rewrite "Understanding your goals" in the client's own words from your call. It is the section they read closest.
- Delete anything that does not apply. A shorter, true proposal beats a longer, generic one.

1. Overview
Prepared for [Client Company] by [Your Name], [Date].
Thank you for considering me to edit for [Client Company / channel name]. This proposal covers how your footage becomes finished videos on a reliable schedule: what you send, what comes back, and exactly how fast, because consistency is what grows a channel.
2. Understanding your goals
You publish [describe: weekly YouTube videos, a podcast with clips, course content] and editing is [describe: eating your production time, inconsistent, the bottleneck between you and a regular schedule].
Success means handing off raw footage and getting back publish-ready videos in a consistent style, on a schedule you can promise your audience.
3. Proposed approach
- Phase 1, Style lock. We define the edit style from your best-performing videos and references: pacing, captions, music, b-roll density, and an intro/outro treatment, written down as a style sheet.
- Phase 2, Handoff system. You upload footage to a shared [Drive / Dropbox / Frame.io] folder with a short brief. A clean handoff is what makes the turnaround below realistic.
- Phase 3, Edit and review. I deliver a review cut within the agreed turnaround. You leave timestamped comments, and I return the revised cut within [2] business days.
- Phase 4, Delivery. Final exports arrive in every agreed format, with thumbnails and cutdowns where included, named and organized for direct upload.
4. Scope and deliverables
- [Number] edited videos per month at up to [length] minutes each
- Captions, music, sound leveling, and color correction on every video
- [Number] vertical cutdowns (Shorts / Reels / TikTok) per video
- [Optional] a designed thumbnail per video
- A written style sheet so every video looks like your channel
- Review cut within [3] business days of receiving footage; revisions back within [2]
5. What is not included
- Filming and footage capture (this is post-production only)
- Motion graphics beyond titles, captions, and simple animations
- Fixing fundamentally unusable footage (I will flag problems and suggest reshoots rather than bill hours fighting them)

8. Why work with me
- A written style sheet means video ten looks like video one, even when we move fast
- Turnaround times are in the agreement, not a vibe, so you can promise your audience a schedule
- I flag footage problems early instead of billing hours trying to rescue them
