A complete proposal you can send after filling in the brackets. Copy the text or download the PDF, then make it yours.
Make it yours before sending
- Replace every [bracket] with the client's real details. Search for "[" to catch them all.
- Set real prices in the investment tiers, and cut to one option if tiers do not fit the job.
- Rewrite "Understanding your goals" in the client's own words from your call. It is the section they read closest.
- Delete anything that does not apply. A shorter, true proposal beats a longer, generic one.
Tutoring proposal
Tutoring proposal prepared for [Client Company]
1. Introduction
Prepared for [Client Company] by [Your Name], [Date].
Thank you for considering me to tutor [student name]. This proposal covers how we will go from where [student] is now to where they want to be in [subject]: a real assessment, a plan with a goal, regular sessions, and honest progress reports along the way.
2. Where you are and where you want to be
[Student] is in [year/grade] and working toward [goal: passing [exam], raising a [subject] grade from [X] to [Y], rebuilding confidence after falling behind].
Right now [describe: the gaps are in [topics], homework takes hours, test anxiety undoes the studying]. Success is [the concrete goal], and just as importantly, [student] knowing how to study without me.
3. Proposed approach
- Phase 1, Assessment. The first session is a low-pressure diagnostic: we find the real gaps (which are often two levels below where the struggle shows) and set the baseline we will measure against.
- Phase 2, Learning plan. I map the gap between the baseline and [goal] into a week-by-week plan, shared with [student and parent], so everyone knows what we are doing and why.
- Phase 3, Sessions. We meet [cadence] for [length] minutes [online / in person]. Sessions are active: [student] does the thinking, I coach the method, and we end each one with a small win.
- Phase 4, Progress reports. Every [2] weeks, [parent] receives a short written update: what we covered, what improved, what is next, and anything the school should know.
4. Deliverables and scope
- A diagnostic assessment and written baseline
- A week-by-week learning plan toward [goal]
- [Number] sessions of [length] minutes per [week / month]
- Practice materials and homework between sessions
- A progress report to [parent] every [2] weeks
- [Optional] a pre-exam revision plan and mock exam under timed conditions
5. Out of scope
- Completing graded assignments, essays, or take-home tests for the student (I teach; I do not do the work)
- Subjects and levels outside [subject list]
- Educational psychology assessments (I can suggest when a specialist assessment might help)

8. Why me
- A diagnostic first, because the visible struggle is rarely the actual gap
- Parents get real reports, not 'it went well' at the door
- The goal is a student who can study without me: methods are the curriculum, the subject is the material
9. Working terms
This proposal is valid for [30] days. A deposit of [amount or %] is due to begin, with the balance due [on delivery / per the schedule]. Work outside the scope above is quoted separately before it starts.
Sessions cancelled with less than [24] hours notice are charged, except in illness or emergency; I match the same standard for myself. For students under 18 the agreement is with the parent or guardian, sessions run [on a platform with recording available / with a parent welcome to observe], and I hold [background check / safeguarding certification]. I support learning honestly and will not complete graded work; grades and results depend on the student's work, and no specific grade is guaranteed.
10. Next steps
To move forward, approve this proposal in writing and I will send the agreement and the deposit invoice. We can begin as soon as the deposit is received.
